چکیده

One of the most important decisions to be made in a face-to-face collaborative learning activity is how groups are composed. These compositions produce different learning and social interaction results. The possibility to change the group member composition in real time and dynamically may permit to level up the learning results and improve the social relationships among the participants. Besides, the change in composition facilitates the analysis of the best criteria to be used in a determined activity. We propose a face-to-face collaborative environment supported by wireless handhelds, which allows for dynamic changes in the composition of the groups, while an activity is being performed. Three different changes of group composition were applied on one environment and compared with another similar environment where no group composition changes were performed. The results obtained show significant improvement , qualitative and quantitative, on the environment where dynamic grouping was performed. . Moreover, the criteria for group composition that produce different social interaction results were identified.

Computer supported collaborative learning using wirelessly interconnected handheld computers

Collaborative learning is widely used in elementary classrooms. However, when working without technological support, some problems can be detected. We describe how weaknesses in coordination, communication, organization of materials, negotiation, interactivity and lack of mobility can be solved with a mobile computer supported collaborative learning environment with Handhelds interconnected by ...

Supporting Mobile Collaborative Activities through Scaffolded Flexible Grouping

Within the field of Mobile Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (mCSCL), we are interested in exploring the space of collaborative activities that enable students to practice communication, negotiation and decision-making skills. Collaboration is via learning activities that circumvent the constraints of fixed seating or locations of students. This paper presents one such collaborative lea...

Task Modeling in Computer Supported Collaborative Learning Environments to Adapt to Mobile Computing

Using the new wireless technologies, mobile devices with small displays (handhelds, PDAs, mobile phones) are present in many environments. We are interested in the effective use of such ubiquitous computing devices for collaborative learning. We show here their application to a case study, the teaching of Domotics. To achieve our goal, we analyze the tasks which are susceptible of improvement t...

A constructivist mobile learning environment supported by a wireless handheld network

There is a need to incorporate constructivist environments in the pedagogical practice. A constructivist learning environment allows students to build up their own knowledge (based on previous one) while working jointly among them in a reflexive process directed by the teacher. Wireless interconnected handhelds can introduce a space that favours constructivism and collaboration in order to achi...
